“But Jesus came and touched them, saying, ‘Get up and do not be afraid.’ And when they looked up, they saw no one except Jesus himself alone.” (Matthew 17:7-8) This is the last Sunday in the season of Epiphany and on it; we mark the great manifestation of Jesus’ glory – the Transfiguration.  It must have been quite an awesome occurrence as it leaves Peter, James and John trembling on the ground.  But Jesus comforts them and as the text says, when they looked up, they only saw Jesus.  We live in a time of uncertainty; perhaps even a time of fear.  The question for us is this: will we approach tomorrow with fear or with the vision that comes when we approach life through Jesus?  Anything is possible when we turn our lives toward him: loving our enemies, caring for those who are different from us, giving in new and generous ways.  I invite you this week to turn your eyes upon Jesus. Allow him to comfort you and to shape your vision for the work that he calls you to do in the weeks and months to come.  Have a great week.
