“Therefore, my friends, since we have confidence to enter the sanctuary by the blood of Jesus, by the new and living way that he opened for us through the curtain (that is, through his flesh), and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us approach with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast to the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who has promised is faithful. And let us consider how to provoke one another to love and good deeds, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” (Hebrews 10:19-25)  Application time:  since Christ has shown the finality and full efficacy of his priesthood, how then shall we live?  First, note well the number.  The full appropriation of Jesus work occurs in community.  We really do need each other to receive his work with a holy boldness.  We need help from our brothers and sisters and they need help from us.  Second, even though we now make application, it is not our turn alone.  So we hold true to the hope of our salvation; a hope which is grounded in Christ and not in our potential.  We strongly encourage one another to live lives that are marked by the character of our High Priest.  We are able to do good because our lives are united to Jesus through the Holy Spirit. Finally, we gather to worship the Lord acknowledging that he alone has done all things well.  Where do you most need help from your sisters and brothers?  Where can you best encourage them?  Have a great week!
