“To this end we always pray for you, asking that our God will make you worthy of his call and will fulfil by his power every good resolve and work of faith, so that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.”  (II Thessalonians 1:11-12) We live in an age of Social Media: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and I’m sure many others of which I remain blissfully unaware.  On the upside, they help us stay connected with folks.  They may help us build and strengthen relationships.  On the downside, they tempt us to quantify those relationships: how many “friends” do I have?  How many likes did that “post” receive?  Is my genius being properly recognized (or at least “retweeted”)?  Paul lifts up a certain different standard; and it is this: Is the name of Christ being recognized in you and are you allowing him to be your glory (your point of honor)?  It is so tempting (and ultimately tragic) to spend one’s life on trying to become worthy on our own terms, when the Lord Jesus Christ has promised to do that work for us and in us.  Take a minute, allow it to wash over you.  Here and now, you are loved with a love that will never end.  Here and now, the Lord Jesus Christ desires to share his glory with you!  That is true whether it gets retweeted or not!
